UWC South East Asia (UWCSEA) will be announcing the official opening of its new East Campus in Tampines on 8 December 2011 by Mr Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Education.
The East Campus is expected to reach its full capacity in August 2015, enrolling up to 2,500 students. Nearly 3,000 students in Kindergarten 1 to Grade 12 are currently enrolled in its Dover Campus, which was opened by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew in 1971.
The opening of the campus will also see the launch of a Centre for International Education (CIE), which is part of the new campus facilities. The CIE will host educational conferences, workshops and events that will support Singapore in establishing itself as a regional hub for international educators and thinkers.
In addition, the East Campus is also a benchmark in environmental standards. It was awarded the Singapore Building and Construction Authority's highest award, Greenmark Platinum, in March 2010.
