Technical University of Munich sets up Electric Vehicle R&D Centre in Singapore
June 11, 2010
The Technical University of Munich, one of Germany’s top engineering universities, will set up the TUM-CREATE Centre for Electromobility in Megacities as part of National Research Foundation’s (NRF) Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) initiative. TUM-CREATE aims to develop competencies in battery technologies and management systems, power electronics, embedded systems, car-to-x communications and vehicle telemetry. The research will result in new concepts that would fuse functionality, safety and energy efficiency in electric vehicles.
TUM-CREATE will complement EDB’s efforts to encourage automotive OEMs and component manufacturers to set up electric vehicle R&D operations in Singapore and will work with German companies such as Siemens, Infineon, Audi and Bosch on e-mobility concepts well suited for tropical megacities.
