Opening of Stolthaven's Tembusu Terminal on Jurong Island

On 11 November 2011, Mr Teo Ser Luck (MOS, MTI) was the guest of honour at the opening of Stolthaven's Tembusu Terminal at Jurong Island. Stolt-Nielsen Limited is one of the world's largest chemical logistics service providers, focusing on bulk liquid transportation and storage. It operates tanker fleet of over 2.5 million DWT and has storage capacity of 2.9 million cbm around the world. The new terminal is Stolt-Nielsen's first in Singapore and is a good complement to its tanker operations.

Stolt-Nielsen's new terminal will offer chemical manufacturers sophisticated storage and handling solutions. Its expertise in tankers operations and tank containers, will also improve the integration of logistics services on Jurong Island. Chemical players now have more choices in service providers, and this can enhance their cost and service competitiveness. Logistics providers such as Stolt-Nielsen are also crucial in supporting other Jurong Island version 2.0 initiatives. For example, the product grid initiative is able to enhance robustness, optimisation and availability of options.

Singapore is home to Stolt-Nielsen's Asia Pacific headquarters and the Global headquarters of its bitumen trading business. The project signifies a major investment by a global leader in chemical logistics, making Singapore the leading Asian hub for chemical manufacturing and logistics.
