Singapore 2011 was officially openedby Assoc Prof Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Information Communication and the Arts & Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs at Marina Bay Sands Expo. 2011, LIVE! Singapore brings aims to bring together 1,500 leading performing artists, practitioners, managers, producers and venue owners from more countries, such as Austria, Cambodia, China, Finland, France, Germany, India, Korea, Latvia, Singapore, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. As the only creative and knowledge-sharing platform of its scale in Asia, LIVE! Singapore creates connections and pathways for performing artists and organizations from both the East and West to access markets outside their own region.  Information, Communication and the Arts Minister Dr Yaacob Ibrahim said: "With our unique multi-cultural make-up, our strategic location at the crossroads of Asia, and availability of world-class venues...Singapore is well positioned to serve not only as a presenter of quality international and regional productions, but also a base from which arts companies can launch into other Asian markets."
