International Paint to open new Singapore laboratory

Leading global coatings company, International Paint, is building a new, worldwide product development laboratory in the Republic. Slated to open in 2010, the laboratory is in line with the company’s investment programme in R&D and will focus on the development of next-generation anti-fouling and foul release technology for marine paint products.

The new laboratory is a key part of International Paint’s global marine network of R&D centres. It also builds upon the success of its existing product laboratories located in the UK and Korea. The laboratory will employ about 20 scientists, a mix of Singaporeans and other nationals, and will expand in the near future. Maximising Singapore’s reputation as a major shipping centre with extensive dry docking, anchorage and port facilities, the development will allow convenient laboratory testing and practical anti-fouling performance evaluations on ships.

With a strong history in Singapore since 1958, this new endeavour will allow the company to face the challenge of delivering new products that meet business needs faster than ever before.
