GSTC - SATTECH 2010 Asia's Premier Mega Event in the Space Domain

“Global Space & Technology Convention (GSTC) and Satellite Technology Asia (SATTECH)” or GSTC-SATTECH 2010, held from 28-30 January, is a merger of two very successful events. The event which is co-located with the Singapore Airshow, is jointly organized by Defence Technology Conferences (DTC) and Singapore Space and Technology Association (SSTA), aims to showcase and discuss the latest concepts, possibilities, challenges, solutions and products in today’s dynamic Space Domain.

The event will bring together the global space and satellite industry, commercial, government, international think-tanks, decision makers and planners to Singapore for 3 days of highly-engaging discussions, interactions and networking. Mr Thomas Vergis, Chief Executive of DTC Conferences said: “GSTC-SATTECH is a developing focal point for space agencies and satellite technologists in Singapore and for the region.”

The conference will feature prominent speakers such as Mr Jim Simon, Chief Strategist, Worldwide Public Sector, The Microsoft Corporation and Member of the Board of Directors for GeoEye, Mr Todd May, Special Assistant to the Director, Marshall SpaceFlight Centre, NASA and Mr Masakazu Toyoda, Secretary-General, Secretariat of Strategic Headquarters for Space Policy, Cabinet Secretariat, Japan Strategic Headquarters for Space Policy, all well-known leaders in the industry.

There will also be a tripartite MOU signing ceremony between SSTA, Science Centre Singapore and Vanguard International Consultants, Pte Ltd to develop Space Odyssey – Singapore’s first space-themed training camp, to be conducted at the Science Centre Singapore. International governments have expressed interest in space-themed camps to accomplish the twin objectives of academic excellence and high-value workforce development. Space Odyssey—Singapore will seek to fill that niche for Singapore, spurring youth in science and engineering fields. In the longer term, Space Odyssey—Singapore will explore partnerships with regional organisations in both academia and industry, and further expand into a regional space training centre for passionate students and young professionals.

Mr Jonathan Hung, President, SSTA, added: “Space technologies are truly pervasive, spanning multiple industries and are a driver for new commercial business.” With the growth of Asia, there will be an explosive demand for more space-related products  and services. GSTC – SATTECH 2010 is Asia’s response to bring together the best minds and organizations in the Space and Satellite domain.
